Perimeter advertising?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else blinded by the light from the rapidly moving perimeter adverts last night?  I appreciate the club is badly in need of extra revenue, but it was like a cross between Blackpool illuminations and a Las Vegas casino.

The things that stood out for me on the perimeter boards were:

  1. The one for the new orange kit genuinely made the place seem warmer. The power of the brain is amazing!! If we have them on constantly in the winter that might help.
  2. We appear to have hardly sold any adverts. There was loads for the club, the upcoming game against Scumbags kids etc. and a large number for SportsDirect and it's associated companies but I presume this gives us no additional revenue as it will all be part of the ongoing deal. As far as income generators there was one for Oldham Vending and another for Eden Creative (though Eden almost certainly have done all the graphics for the adverts so potentially get their own advertising free).

To be fair, I'd imagine if you were buying a package you'd want it to start from the first league game. Can't imagine you'd want to pay for it when about 500 people will see it at a friendly.

It struck  me the electricy costs might be more than the revenue.

It was the distraction though that concerned me and at times I couldn't concentrate on the game.

I imagine the lighting can be toned down and the frequency of the rapid movement reduced?

Having said that nothing moved quicker than the human dynamo number 17 last night.

Considering the inability to hit the net last season the black netting an unusual choice to catch the eye. But possibly free from City. The led boards should have arrows pointing at the goal. Hope the boards a success but cost v running costs a curious equation.

I strongly suspect that the colour of the net is not the key factor as to whether we can get the ball in it.

Maybe they ought to put the lights on the nets?

The nets are free from City.

Black nets are for the slow-motion action replays, and may also help with the LED advertisements.

lol ... I strongly suspect you missed the tongue in cheek tone. If we doubled the width and height last seasons lot would have still missed.

Maybe we've acknowledged we can't score and are trying to hide the nets from the opposition.,.. :)

You might have to move to the back row of the Main Stand to be so elevated they are no longer distracting...

Difficult to see the players at times against them. They showed two adverts across the boards a few times together, one white background, one blue, bloody hell.

That glowing tangerine one too, I fear retina damage.

I had a look on the website and the charge for advertising on them is £1500+VAT per minute. To me an excessive amount for the publicity it would generate.

Can't season ticket is at front, the answer is to dim them and less notation.
