ChrisRichard
Pleasently suprised with the performance after 30 minutes. Still not fantastic but it doesn't need to be fantastic if we can grind out results like that. Blackwood looked like a weight off his shoulders after he scored, still not completely convinced of what his position should be. The lads Bennett and Clark looked really solid as did Hamer the and Jameson. Bam was a pain in their arse from his intro. Rowe was quality again. All round a better performance but we've got to stop conceding before giving it a go.
Flemboy
Well earned 3 points against a good team.Danny and Bam did well and that corner from which we scored was brilliant. Glad Clark scored .Dunn put asecond decent shift in . Hope Zak is not out for long and pity he didne score after a few seconds!! Keep it up Latics. Thought Jameson did well. ....didn’t give free kicks away and they were all happy to receive the ball and didn’t treat it like an unexplored bomb

SweeperKeeper
Clarke and Ntambwe have made a massive difference by getting stuck in and breaking up play Bahamboula did a lot of defensive work today on the wing too, not just a flair player

Wardie
I forgot there was a game tonight, remembered then went on the BBC and pleasantly surprised to discover a win. It didn't say who the assists were for the Latics goals and a bizarre stat of 30% possession but 16 shots compared to Cheltenham's 12...and 8 on target to their 3. Gary1906
Rowe made a big difference again when he came on. Yet there are still some on here who don’t seem to rate him particularly highly.

It’s a welcome win but only 30% possession for a home team at this level is ridiculous!

Handsy
The only stats that matter is goals scored a lot of that 70% was passing it along the back four in their own half

I don’t think we are winning the Premier league anytime soon, at any rate they did it at the top of their league - not at the arse end of League 2. Guess they had a defence that didn’t resemble 4 battle cruisers that had been scuttled as well

But at this level those stats are guesstimates. The Press Association are often wrong on their less complicated stats too. We let them have the ball in their half and they kept the ball well with not much threat. So they are naturally going to win the possession. We won the game, and no one remembers any other stats than that, unless you have money on it.

Behind Closed Doors
MacAleny Dearnley, Grant , Blackwood Dunn are being routinely selected before him by professional coaches. They offer pace, mobility and defensive and work rate qualities he does not, .and they are all currently scoring more or the same as him He is a brilliant striker of a ball and has good vision but he limits the way we can play. Tonight’s system suited him....we had no interest in a high press and were happy to sit deep with two banks and you can then relieve him ( and Blackwood) of some tracking responsibilties ..... Fervid
Frig it a wins a win against a team which will be up there for promotion this season. If we can get a settled side instead of chopping and changing every week we should end up mid table at least
