I’d be surprised if we see much 442 this season. May have just gone that way today as this was just a fitness exercise so that was the most basic formation to play that gives a bit of solidity.

Pretty much all training content from the media team has been fitness stuff so my guess would be they were sent out there today with barely any tactical work at all.

Looked like 4-4-2

1st half: GK Hudson DL Kitching DC Cookson DC Hobson DR Sutton ML Couto MC Shelton MC Sheron MR Kofi STR Nuttall STR Reid.

2nd half: Norman DL Couto DC Hogan DC Raglan DR Chapman ML Tollet MC Lundstram MC Sutton MR Green STR Fondop STR Willoughby.

Thanks for the info. Is that Ellis Chapman at RB, or a young lad?

Happy clappers are out in force 😂😂😂

are we? l'd say the reaction is defo more nappy crapper than happy clapper. literal names of silence have reappeared bc we drew a training match in tracking bra's with two different teams playing each half!!

somebody even said in advance on here that would be happening.  its totally pathetic and only proves my theory that a fast league start is essential and l believe we will do it.

We don't need an explosive start to get promoted.

We had one in 2008-09 and that tailed off really badly. If we make a steady start we can be sat mid to top half if necessary after the first 10 games we will be in touch that will be fine. We can't have a first half of the season like last year (we won't do either) The important thing is we remain in striking distance of promotion throughout the season.

Their will no doubt be alot of noise on social media everytime we lose or draw this season coming from a minority. Some people have already made their mind up about the manager and have become completely entrenched in that point of view. The important thing will be to shut that noise out. We will have defeats and poor performances this season we shouldn't overanalyse them just aslong as they are the exception. The majority will accept that.

Whilst what you say is entirely true we seem to be leaning towards a situation where any comment made in a slightly negative stance is jumped all over, someone asked me what I thought of the new kits and I gave an honest response, should I tell a lie because 'you should be happy you've got a football club's?. Ironically it's normally the moaners about the moaners who get on my wick but each to their own.

It's complete bollocks to expect everybody to have the same opinion on everything and whist the majority of fans wouldn't give a flying fuck about yesterday some may have expected more, some of the best performances came from players we are allegedly trying to loan out this coming season, some of those kids really shone.

Players yesterday would of been leggy having done about 40 or 50 miles during the week and there will be a reason Unsworth fielded two disjointed elevens but the same problems from the back end of last season do seem to still stand out, we still haven't addressed the rightback issues and once again we were dominated in midfield, wide left is also an issue but I expect Ward to be used out there once he's up to speed.

Nothings won in July but the performance still gives them plenty to work on, we will no doubt get better as the month goes on and the squad start to do a little bit more on the training pitch.

I'm not of the opinion that mid table is acceptable after 10 games either but those booing them off yesterday really need to give their heads a wobble.

Literally just a fitness exercise yesterday, that’s it.
However we now have what looks like a very good squad of players and we’ve got to come out of the blocks looking like we mean business in August which I’m sure we will

Surely no one booed them off yesterday? Our fan base 😂

l don't think we can shut them out if it happened, thats my point. the #agendalads are locked and loaded.

any player doubted the pressure knows now.

........once again we were dominated in midfield.

Lundstram was excellent in the second half - found it a little strange that one of Shelton or Sheron didn't stay on rather than moving Will Sutton into midfield and playing the full 90. Good right wingback required as Hobson and Raglan will make a decent 3 in the centre of defence with Hogan.

I for one will be buying the third kit.

I will have the most unique of Queensland State of Origin shirts for next year's series.

With the exception of Chesterfield the expectations will be higher at our club than any other in the league, but their is a rationale behind that.

This squad is a top 7 squad even if we started the season now while we are a right back short, man for man this squad is better than most in the division and again while Chesterfield will be the favourites if you are looking at which teams are most likely to challenge them then we are definitely in the conversation. That brings with it an expectation.

We sometimes lose sight of the fact that footballers and football managers are human beings, they will make mistakes and have bad games, they have family and friends who read social media, you can't expect them to just take criticism like a punch bag. But at the same time they themselves have to understand (infact they probably do understand) that some of this comes with the territory particularly if you are one of the favourites to go up.

I've just remembered why turning up for pre season friendlies should be for nothing more than to socialise.

Totally agree

I really enjoyed the day and chatted to loads of people, both Oldham and Hyde fans.

There is something nice and chilled about going to a non-league ground where the fans are genuinely happy to see you and are interested in asking about your team.

I also bumped into Frankie Bunn......... oh and I watched a footy match. A great day!!

Yes that is true, but our set up is different, as in stricter stewards, segregation , not drinking beer whilst watching etc.

So our team is non-league but our ground is league standard, for better or worse!!

Yep, hopefully the weather is decent too. Only £14 on the train as well, so i’d imagine plenty will be going.
