Players not paid?

Recommended Posts

By the sounds of it, if we paid the players late last month, it was almost inevitable that we were going to do so again this month. I am not sure what the terms are for receiving payments from the football league/Sky (In the back of my mind I think it might be every 6 months), but unless there is a payment on the horizon you would have to imagine that we will miss the December payment too.

This is concerning and does back up the general consensus surrounding the delays to the new stand. It also shows that we are not being told the whole truth (not that we actually have any devine right to be told the truth). As Prozac points out, the delays to the stand are stopping us generating any cash, especially in the run up to Christmas. I don't know how many events have been cancelled so far but there must be a significant cost to date with additional lost revenue on a daily basis.

This is very concerning and goes to show how close to the edge this football club is at the moment.

It will only get worse as crowds drop (vicious circle).

Seem to remember the last time this happened we'd not had a home game for 6 weeks and it was blamed on cash flow, however this time we've just had three home games in the last week!

According to BBC Sport it's not an isolated incident......

League One side Oldham have revealed they were unable to pay their players before Saturday's loss to Crewe.

BBC Radio Manchester understands wages have been late for the past three months, but the club says that players will be paid in full on Wednesday.

Oldham are 21st in League One after 20 games, having won just one of their last six.

"There is nothing to say other than players will be paid tomorrow," Latics chairman Simon Corney said.

I have sympathy for players not being paid, deserved performances or not.

You have to expect that.

But, other teams, such as Northampton have had wage issues and still managed to put out performances.

I suppose it depends on the circumstances, but if Rhys Murphy may be staying at Crawley is they are stumping up any proportion of his wage. That said Jack Tuohy is back. Although Jordan Bove is staying at Ramsbottom (Are they paying some of his wage?!)

So maybe a loanee or two is going back.

In fact, we have only seen generally 2 loanees starting so some loanees may be back already

We have probably seen the last of Cameron Durmingham, unless 100% of his wage is being paid. His deal expires tommorow. But in light of this wage issue his sudden injury looks less assured.

Jay Fulton expires.

Eckersley might just be gone too. I think his deal expires on 18th Dec approx. also

Higdon in 3 weeks.

The rest at start of Jan.

FTFY

Also agree. Piss poor performances reflect their lack of professional pride.

They signed the contract, they didnt have to?

In todays game at the top level its not alot of money but in many walks of life it is and for a lot less work. (Ask many of the people who pay to watch them every week)

Gone are the days when people just play for the love of the game but just because you didnt get you £500 for 20 hours work this week on time you should at least make the effort for the people in the stands spending their much harder earned money.

I was replying to your post which implied that we shouldnt have sympathy for them as they were on good money!

I do appreciate that some people are paid less in different employments but those employments could quite probably lead to more money in mid thirties and significantly more in mid forties all the way to state pension age. Football doesnt on the whole lead to that directly apart from a lucky few!

Agreed, they are being paid on Wednesday so no need to be leaked.

Rubbish. Paid late three months in a row. They'll have mortgage payments going out and other bills. Every right to leak the story.

Edit: plus they're getting abused by their own fans for not putting a shift in, and hung out to dry in the press by their own manager for hiding when he knew full well why they may be dispirited.

Nah, they've still got a duty to go out and perform, too easy to hide behind stuff like this.

Would hazard a guess at cashflow.

All Dunn and Holden's fault.

We may be low on cash because of Dunn and Holden but I can't even blame them for players not getting paid, what I wouldn't mind knowing is, its been reported that Dunn had to inform the players they were not going to be paid, if true is that really under his remit?

Maybe not but I guess he is the manager, the guy in the firing line. It would be my boss to tell us if we weren't going to be paid on time. Not the owner of the company.

Whats the Trusts position on this then? Isn't part of the point of the whole Trust and the appointed fan on the board to safeguard against such things, finding out third hand from The Sun newspaper hardly smacks of transparency.

There's a difference between a delay in wages and the club collapsing.

Although one can precede the other.

Maybe a statement is in order.

I never deserted the club. I did give up pissing in the wind though.... With the situation being the piss and people like you being the wind.... Take a bow.

You have to be one of the most active pacifists on the board telling everyone pointing out the bad reality that they are wrong. Your are as much of a problem as the bad leadership....

Seems like you deserted the club though. The club being the club and you being you.
