oafc1955
Lifelong Latics fan Richard Taylor has resigned from the board. He only joined in the summer and was really excited to be on board. Evans fiasco I wonder? It's in the Chron apparently.

JohnnyPimp
Wasn't it reported that it was a unanimous decision of the board to sign Evans? Rather disingenuous to discount the view of a director who resigned over the matter.

disjointed
Leaving as Barry is about to complete his full take over of the boardroom.
Bristolatic
Leaving as Barry is about to complete his full take over of the boardroom. Behave. That's just not funny. Scary thought though especially with all the time he's spent in front of the cameras recently.
deyres42
plus 1 what is going on? Tempted to also ask who and what has he done whilst on board as genuinely dont know hjis role. He was the bloke who was going to take the commercial side to a new level, perhaps the pace of change wasn't happening quickly enough for his liking. ghostofcecere
So basically it was unanimous in the boardroom after a director who opposed it resigned over the affair......... sounds like a man of principle and good morals to me, exactly the type we need on the board. Well...if only we knew of a newly vacant position that would enable such a man of principle to retake a position on the board.
leeslover
It speaks volumes that someone freshly into the boardroom from outside could see what was staring the club in the face whilst the rest glanced past it.
Diego_Sideburns
Appantly he wasn't in favour of Evans and resigned in midweek. perhaps he might reconsider now. The rarely-wrong Chron qualifies its story with: "While there has been no confirmation and no statement from Mr Taylor...".
Stevie_J
It's sad to think that the end result appears to be that the most scrupulous and sensible director at the club departs, whilst the others remain.

oafc-latics
He was the bloke who was going to take the commercial side to a new level, perhaps the pace of change wasn't happening quickly enough for his liking. So the Commercial Director who's also a life-long Latics fan resigns, and they still didn't anticipate sponsors pulling out and fans being annoyed? The more I hear, the more I think they just wanted to sign him because they could, it was nothing to do with morals or even football. oafc0000
I would of thought if you had board members saying they would resign over it that would of been the issue put to bed. Clearly not...
Blue_Guru
Clearly there are board members and then there are board members...what's the point if some have more say over others? Especially someone like Fans favourite Barry! Naughty to report it was unanimous decision...stinks if you ask me...also the way it was dressed up as the threats that called the deal off rather than lack of foresight on sponsors pulling out. If someone crunched the numbers of the risks and did due diligence in advance the club wouldn't have gone through this embarrassment in the first place!! singe
MAybe he resigned because it was reported as being unanimous, and wasn't. This story unravels more at each turn.
Forte_Baby
The other question is how did the story leak out in the first place, maybe someone in the club unhappy with it.
