You are right disjointed....the issue is whether the chant is a play on the name or a" zuluistic" noise. My problem with the Root , Kucher, Springsteen defence is that the rendition of the name emerged over time as they became extremely successful in their fields....with this chant it was used the very first time he came on the field , before he had kicked a ball and therefore It has to at least to be considered that it is based on his physical appearance .....

I don't recall it being used when he was warming up at Shrewsbury. I think it started when he went on his mad run down the left wing where he beat three of there players by tangling his legs around the ball and the chant gained momentum as he walked across the six yard box after the ball went out of play.

You are right about Palmer, wrong about Ngoo.

This.

Think Magister is trying to defend any remaining pride in his theory. Seriously, drop the Ngoo thing - you're embarrassing yourself.

I'm pretty sure it was the blokes round me on the left of the away end who started it. I've not been since then so I don't know it's current incarnation but it was just an elongated last vowel then. Magister making it out as a 'zulu' chant isn't what I originally would have associated it with.

An online solicitors view;

Chanting directed at players of their own team

The issue of racial chanting brings up the situation where one team may be making comments towards one of their own players which they may regard as humorous. For example one player in the Premier League who originates from Asia is sung about by his home fans in relation to the particular culinary persuasions of his people. Whether this would be regarded as racialist chanting under the act remains to be seen.

Racialist? Is that even a word?

Have I read this right that when people shout Ngoo's name when he is coming on/on the pitch that's racist? Good luck on getting a charge against someone for shouting his name!

I believe Magister is working on an online petition to have typing Ngoo's name declared a race hate crime. He shall now be known as "He who must not be named"

I honestly cant quite believe some of the comments on here which state that shouting of a players surname as racist ? Its about time all this pc bull:censored: was kicked into touch as its things like this that helps dilute any real racism. I suppose every club in Germany is racist because there when a player comes on as sub the tannoy guy shouts his first name while the rest of the stadium shout his surname. Racism my arse :shakeit:

But start by writing down the words that rhyme withNgoo, and you are in a minefield already.
