A friend of mine took golf up early 40s with fairly young kids at home and threw himself into it.  Practice, warm up, 18 holes, socialising etc. - so out of the house for a minimum 6 hours.  However, he'd just retired from playing Minor Counties cricket which took him out for three days at a time so it seemed like quite a big concession to domestic responsibilities...  He's divorced now :)

A chap I know played amateur cricket into his 80s. He had “cricket” declared in the papers of 4 divorces! 😂

I had the odd coaching session with Cec when I was a young teenager - so mid 70s - and he only retired five years ago!  Former Jamaica Pacer Wright Set To Retire After 60-Year Career | Wisden

Oh I can imagine I've been involved recently with local cricket it's a big commitment you don't realise how much time and effort people put into both playing and running it. Its not an easy sell to your better half to tell them for the 6 months of the year when the weather is at its best you are going to spend your Saturdays looking after the kids while I go off with the lads to play cricket.

Any more golfers on here? OWTB Golf Day?

I used to play regularly with my dad before his knees gave up and not picked up a club for years, would love to get back into it again, I'm rubbish but would happily join in with that idea

But is he available  for golf or cricket?

You've hit me for a six  into the long grass with that one.

But will our stats bomb experts approve of him returning to us, he actually ticks all the required boxes and played most games at a higher level last season?

No chance.

He's an established L1 player now in his prime. Why would he drop to the NL?

Wonder why they are letting him go? I thought he was decent when with us and I'd imagine he will not be short of options.

Rob Hunt was another player treated really badly by AL and the club. I doubt he would want come to us again.

Not sure he'd want to move back up north but I don't think the effects of the Lemsagams is going to Impact a players decision to come here. They know clubs cam change very quickly.

IIRC there was also an element of "best supporters in the land" who thought he was crap and gave him some grief.

Different regime ?

Wolud be a good, if unlikely, signing.

Different regime, absolutely, but would he bother to take the time to check all those who were involved have left.

He was a nice lad and had the right attitude. Would be a good signing, but very unlikely

Anyone remember the strange crypto chap who supposedly wanted to take us over? We were all rather sceptical.

Just out of interest, two cryptocurrency and NFT fellas took over Crawley and have now seen them promoted using a data-driven recruitment model.

Whodathowtit.

By all accounts a massive bellend with the ego to match.
