Good game, but we are our own worst enemies at times. Still, some great attacking football. Rowe is so much more than your average fourth division centre forward. He's got a great touch, vision and can finish. Only thing he lacks is pace.

And the admiration of BCD.

We played well for periods of the game but were also fairly poor for a lot of the match too. Too many again showing the inconsistency In their game that put us under unnecessary pressure.

Rowe was MotM for me and, despite conceding three, Lawlor was decent. The middle of the park looks unbalanced and too many seemed off the pace.

At the moment we are scoring a lot of goals but the defending from the middle to the back has to improve. But another win and after Bradford in the cup it’s a Tranmere side managed by Keith Hill  at BP and the return of Peter Clarke.

What’s  not to like?

He said on Saturday that he surprised some when doing sprint tests during the week.......deceptively slow perhaps ?

Hes an intelligent player certainly makes up for not having pace  in other areas of his game..

Almost 37 years to the day (26/11/83) since we beat Pompey 4-3 away. Since then we've beaten Kettering in the FA cup, and Stevenage on opening day by the same scoreline away from home, as well as 6 home 4-3 wins, including Southampton in the prem to stay up, and Millwall at home on the opening day.

Blimey, I was at Pompey for that one!

If we can stop or even stymie conceding goals, we may not be far off a top half side.

A McCann and Wheater type in and we'd go further.

There's a transfer window in January to bring a McCann type in, as for Wheater we seem to be trying anyone at centre back except him, so looks to me as he will be soon gone.

Trying to think of the other four home 4-3 games now.

Off the top of my head, I can only think of Notts County in the Prem (Ian Marshall thunderbolt..).

Yep that's one, there was Bristol City under Ronnie Moore, Shrewsbury on a Tuesday night in 1985, and Swindon in March 88.

Shades of a lower league Stitch?
