Perhaps this should be in the National League thread but seen as though there was talk of him in here...

Mike Williamson straight in at 1/6 for the MK Dons job after Graham Alexander sacked.

Odd aren't usually that short when the book first opens!

They'll go for Robinson again surely...

They've gone for Williamson.

Quite a short turnaround given Williamson had a job, perhaps a little bit too short.

Just to say on Brabin as well

That is an absolute masterstroke from Micky, we look like we are heading back down into the Non League, you have the dream team to get you out of it

Brabin had a really tough job rebuilding us back when we were relegated but boy could he spot a player. it was him who signed Norwood and moved him from the wing to up top. He also signed Andy Cook etc for us

Micky has always credited Brabin for the squad he inherited at Tranmere, you now have imo the best manager in the non league and the best recruiter of players at that level in the non league.

As much as I hate it, the odds of you replacing us in the league are now well in your favour

This is high praise.

What do you think their limitations are? Where can they improve?

He's a good appointment and needs to be allowed to build his own squad.

That said, waiting until 85 minutes with the game lost before making a double substitution was an odd move yesterday..

Yeah, the guy with 5 promotions under his belt is a bad fit. Please hire another rookie

Character wise, style wise, he isn't what was needed at this time IMO. It was a great chance to reset and reinvigorate, build a new entertaining identity, he isn't going to bring those qualities.

This baffles me also. Reid was on early for Nuttall and the two late subs (88&89th minute) was farcical.

Mellon needs time but the early signs are not very convincing…

He cannot build a new entertaining identity with our current squad of players, they are simply not good enough.

The vast majority of them can’t even pass a football to each other most of the time.

A clueless manager and a piss poor recruitment strategy is the reason we are where we are right now.

You cannot polish a turd!!

Until a chunk of this squad is ousted and replaced with a few technically competent footballers there will be no appreciable change.

The first job, and the most important job of any manager is to improve the players he has, and thereby making us a better team.

If he’s not up to that then he’s the wrong choice. I’m not saying he is, and I’m sure given time he will make improvements and when he is given the funds to bring in new players, they’ll be coming into a better environment.

we can’t just keep signing a batch of players, giving them a few months then saying ‘this lot aren’t good enough, let’s get rid and bring another lot in and hopefully we’ll be better.’

A manager’s job is to manage, and make the team better. The last one wasn’t capable, I’m a lot more confident this one will be.

And what if they are just poor footballers already playing up to their potential?
