We also need to get Nuttall off the wage bill as well. He's supposed to be the club's 2nd biggest earner! Dickenson is the highest earner who's out of contract according to Salary Sport. Those 3 would 'save' around £6,700 a week if their figures are anywhere near correct!

Think it would save way more than that, Norwood is reputed to be on £5k alone!

I also believe that going forward contracts for any new signings should be for no more than 1 year with an option. That would then give the club a fail safe whilst encouraging the said players to perform consistently rather than sat on their underperforming arses for 2 or more years thus leaving the club stuck in a financial nightmare!

We could have someone taken off us after 1 season if they’ve been really good though and we’d get nothing. Plus only offering those sort of deals could mean we lose out on targets.

It’s a difficult thing to get right - long contracts for the great signings, short contracts for the shit ones.

Options enable you to monitor progress so if a player is performing admirably you can take up the option fairly early.
Are you clairvoyant or summat?😂😂

Could they refuse though if someone else is sniffing? Not really sure how options work.

Maybe statsbomb has a suggested contract length feature and we should just go with whatever that says?!

It has to be better than the pile of shite the vast majority, if not all of our signings have left us in!!😂😂

If the club has an option then I'm sure they can activate it - only means another year though so a player who wants out can just see that out unless a new longer deal is agreed.

It’s also not a one-sided thing. Players will have their own demands for contract length. If they’re (genuinely) good enough that we want them, they likely have other clubs interested too.

Nuttall 3,000 a week and has a yearly increase bolted in.

Other duds have increases bolted into their deals as well. It’s one of the main reasons MM has been so down.

And someone with his experience didn't know this before he took over?

Not doubting you, but what’s your source ?

You aren't getting game changers on one year contracts so let's put that red herring back in the sea.

But you can get duck eggs on 2 year deals!!😆

We should have had bigger escape holes in the nets, the last time we went trawling

Does that include the manager?

You can get game changers on loan, we've had them in the past.
