It's a week since Barnsley apparently made the initial approach and still no official word from the Latics board. It shouldn't take that long to decide whether or not to grant permission for talks to be held.

There's no way Johnson has gone there tonight specifically to talk to Barnsley officials and would wager an official approach hasn't been made at all and that's why we've heard nothing.

Even as a huge Johnson fan, I am increasingly pissed off with the whole situation.

Repeated issuing of 'no comment' from both board and manager alike just leads to unsettled players who will be questioning the decision making of the club and manager alike.

If he wants to leave (which is his right), then go - and do it quickly. We can and will move on with difficulty if the situation demands it.

All that is happening at the moment is unsettling in the extreme to fans and players.

They, and we, deserve better.

On the assumption that even if he doesn't go, he has spoken to them, I'm not sure what could have been done differently.

It's all very well saying 'do it quickly' but perhaps Barnsley want to talk to a number of candidates, then they need to agree terms with us and them, lawyers need to look over agreements etc. These things don't just happen overnight.
