LJ has already stated he is more than happy here and wants to see job through.

SC should now just turn around to Barnsley and say -

Sorry he ain't going anywhere so no need to interview ,

end of .

He's definitely going to ask how much they've got before he tells them he's going nowhere. If the money's right and they want him, I think he'll go.

Johnson has said nothing other than what's always said by managers before they leave a club. Standard party line.

Perhaps he's happy enough to him to move on, money in the kitty, a fallout from him trying to weasel out of the Evans deal?

Why hasnt he come out today and dissmissed all the talk, is it really helping the teams preperation for Saturday ? It seems to me he sees this as an opportunity to yet again promote himself, the club should grow a pair of bollocks and make there mind up either way, why get dragged into another pantomime particularly at a fellow League 1 club.

THis is a very good point. Are we ever capable of just putting a story to bed. End of.

Wonder if this one will drage out over a week.

Perhaps Barnsley are doing their Due Dilligence.

The press do not drum up any crap.

The odds with the bookies never lie, and came before the media reports. Just like Sammy Lee here before thankfully Corney changed his mind about selling and backtracked, eventually giving LJ the job.

The fact the club and out manager haven't ruled out the appointment isn't the media's fault.

It's evidence that there's a reason why they haven't said one way or the other, which needs to be pursued.

He'd be a knob if he went to Barnsley. It's a sidewards step. The club is still in turmoil after being relegated. It'll take another 18 months to get them sorted and even then they're not exactly a big or even middle sized outfit. They're not in anything like the same category as Sheffield or Bristol or even MKD or PNE. He needs to prove his ability with us and then move on to a Championship club with potential to challenge for promotion to the PL.

Have a look at Swindon approached them about Cooper who was the bookies favourite, approach rebuffed, told to go away all in the space of 24 hours Cooper is now preparing his team for Saturday while we have all this hanging over us because yet again we have a board who appear not to have the teams best interest at heart. Its a simple one to put to bed yet we seem incapable of doing anything in a simplistic way.

It's more than likely that we have an on-going (maybe even contractual) agreement in place with LJ that we wouldn't stand in his way should another team want him and he wants to assess if it's a good opportunity for him which with his own salary & their playing budget, it may well be. They obviously felt that the deal they're offering would have been good enough to tempt Cooper from Swindon.

It's all to be expected at any club that has a relative upturn in fortunes and just part of the game. I'd expect it all to drag into next week.

Cooper: "no comment".

....maybe LJ signed his extended [2018] contract on the proviso SC allowed him to speak to suitors. This would explain the club's impotence. If memory serves me correctly, LJ didn't sign the contract immediately.... suggesting there could have been some [non financial] negotiating going on.
