Their turn for the attention, although I don't think he's prefixed by 'convicted rapist' anymore.

Wouldn't have wanted to sign him now as he's still a man awaiting a rape trial, but it's probably not *as* sensitive as when we tried - isn't he currently technically innocent?

Imagine he'll have a clause saying that if the trial returns guilty again he'll have his contract ripped up. Chesterfield fans already discontented with their owner and CEO at the moment from what I've read, so can't imagine this will help those relations...

Their approach to the signing has been very different to ours. No leaks to the press beforehand, removing the opportunity for a national public debate on the merits of the signing. No national press camped on their doorstep for weeks and no public relations gaffes from their directors.

They've just signed him and said they won't be making any further comment on it.

I'm sure there will be some discontent amongst the fans but doubt it will rumble on for weeks and generate the amount of nationwide attention our clumsy approach did.

Good load of bull:censored: being spread on here about him having a contract with the club.

He's been paid since last January apparently.

Don't believe everything you read on here.

Or judge each snippet of information on its merits. It was only a couple of weeks ago that some were calling bull:censored: on Lee Sinnott for saying Coleman was on his way out.

Who says he wasn't on a contract and being paid? Is anyone putting anything past the club at this point? It's nearly two months since the end of the season and about two before the next one and we have no players or manager. We have no strategy or plan, which is when mad stuff happens like paying someone who is beyond the pale for the promise of a contract when the justice system runs out of gas.

Correction. The plan is to be the country's first successful part-time league club of the modern era.

Probably because they'd have a lot more competition for his signature...anyway he hasn't kicked a ball for over 2 years so it's a massive gamble for any club.

Not really... Football is one of those sports where its incredibly easy to get back in the swing of things....

Its the more the fact he faces a trail and is possibly a dirty rapist that is more of a gamble...
