al_bro
Baxter is blaming 'politics' at Oldham for not getting enough game time. Ring a bell? I wonder who said he couldn't play.

deyres42
Didn't Baxter question some attitudes/commitment at some stage? Probably sealed his fate then and there...

He could be an ideal signing for Plymouth and their promotion ambitions. Doesn't mean the decision to release him was wrong though. An intensive pre-season training stint, supervised by someone, and you'd have the best player in the league by a country mile. Probably needed a psychological boost too, which is not hard to achieve. He was worth that level of personal investment as he is class and loves Latics (or did). Play him behind the front players and would destroy most/all defences in this pub league with his vision and accuracy. Would also chip in with a few goals. Unbelievable that we did the initial hard work (that injury then set him back) and don't follow through. Things like this make me realise the club is clueless.

Let's see if he gets a decent contract at Plymouth shall we? There are still reservations about him evidenced by the short term deal he has been offered. Whenever he has moved away from Latics he has 'lapsed' so time will tell. Still think he was half the player we had first time around.
