Does anyone know if there’s a possible resolution which means Leutweiler will be able to play for us, or is that a non-starter?

Sure he'll be available when the loan is paid back, sell a player or solidarity payments, whichever comes first.

It’s wrong on every level, the efl are stopping player having longer contracts and now restricting players playing. I get Oldham are as much to blame, but it’s poor from the efl. Clubs took loans because they’re skint.

The efl set the rules we broke them its our fault 100%.

No reason why we should be on a level playing field with properly managed clubs

Could the issue be what @PeteGmentioned the other day; can't imagine he would have signed for less than 800 a week...

I heard from a mate out in Dubai that AL believes Leutwiler is training away from the squad due to self-isolation 🤔

Now either he is being fed a line by Mo and Karl or this is the case,

What is unprofessional is that the club has provided no official reason for the keepers non-appearance.

Who knows the real reason. I wouldn't have thought Hope was on 800 a week but they may have got around it. The EFL embargo rules are not exactly straight forward:

SECTION 4: EMBARGO RESTRICTIONS GENERAL PRINCIPLES

Whilst each case will be considered on its merits, in general:

·      During a Transfer Window, clubs subject to an embargo will be allowed to staff up to 23 players

of professional standing BUT:

o can only bring in players on Standard Loan for half a season;

o cannot pay Loan Fees; and

o cannot contribute more than 100% of the players contracted wage with his parent club.

·      Where the Club cannot fill all available places on a team sheet as doing so would mean that the Club would name more than 5 Players reregister on Temporary Loan Transfers on the Team Sheet, the Club will be permitted to sign contract players for the Season but on free transfer only. The Club shall not be permitted to pay a transfer fee for the Player (or any other contingent fee), however the parties may include a sell on provision. A cap on wages will apply as follows:

o Championship £4,500 per week; o League 1 £1,300 per week; and o League 2 £800 per week.

·      A player of professional standing is a player who has made a first team appearance (including as a substitute) in the following competitions:

o League Competition;

o Premier League Competition;

o League Cup;

o Football Association Challenge Cup;

o Football Association Community Shield;

o any first team club competitions organised by UEFA; and/or

o  any other professional domestic league or first team Cup competition organised by a national association sanctioned by or affiliated to UEFA and/or FIFA (by way of example, any division of the Scottish Professional Football League, Ligue 1 or 2, or Serie A, B or C).

·      During a Closed Period, embargoed clubs cannot recruit Out of Registration Players unless they drop below 16 players of professional standing (due to remaining players being suspended, called up for international duty or injured / unfit (supported by independent medical evidence)). The 16 Players means:

o 14 outfield players

o 2 goalkeepers

·      The Out of Registration Player can only be signed on multiple monthly contract (to the opening of the next window) and is subject to the same wage caps outlines above.

·      The embargo applies to any application for a registration (i.e. Contract, transfers in, Standard loans, non-contract etc.).

·      The League may refuse the permanent transfer or loan (including renewal) of an outgoing player if there is a risk that the club will be unable to name 14 outfield players and 2 goalkeepers for a forthcoming fixture.

·      These general provisions do not apply to Clubs who are subject to an embargo under the P&S Rules which will instead follow the principles outlined in Section 6.

Glad to see Leutwiler is still here. Have they given the youth team keeper a number now though seeing he's been on the bench?

So, we are only allowed (under the terms of the embargo) 23 players of professional standing, which means anyone who has made a first team appearance other than in the EFL trophy.  There ar 26 on  that list and by my reckoning Messrs Bowden, Sutton  and Da Silva don't count as being of professional standing.  So there's your 23.

Which means no more strikers.

Great stuff.

I think there are one or two others who are not of a 'professional standing'!!
