Its a nice easy journey by train for an afternoon game so looks like either Sunday afternoon with engineering work or Friday or Monday night.

It doesn't look like a good one for tv until you realise that we are likely to lose.  For any who go take your opera glasses.

Great post from one of their fans saying it gives them a chance for revenge for 1959/60

Gateshead best Latics to put us and Hartlepool below them in Div 4 but it was the Heed that got thrown out and us and Hartlepool were re-elected

I do love a grudge rooted in history

Won't be a TV game as 6/7 more attractive fixtures but good chance it ends up as a Sunday game.

Yes, but it is probably the most likely to be an upset, and more humiliation for us on national television.

The Club's official site confirms the grudge in its History section:

Gateshead had finished third-bottom with both Oldham Athletic and Hartlepools United below them, but polled only 18 votes and were unjustly voted out of the League.

To be fair the re election process was spectacularly corrupt!

The grudge is justified.

Always had a decent chance of success as a north west club as there were so many locals to offer their vote.  Ironically the last club to lose their status under that system was Southport - although they were replaced by Wigan!

Wigan had been knocking on the door for years, but rejected due to what amounted to a closed shop policy.

Aren’t the BBC doing the “10 semi-televised games at 2pm on the Sunday” thing again?

Could still be shifted to Sunday as you say especially with Newcastle being at home on the Saturday.  I know the games are in different Cities but I doubt many will be spending much time in Gateshead other than for the game.

"The fixture has been put back 24 hours after the game has been chosen by the FA and external broadcasters for extended highlights."

Does the club get any money for 'extended highlights'?

Well if thats the reason to move the kick off then yes they will. Not for alot of money mind but still better than a kick in the nuts.
