Danny Whitaker appointed joint caretaker manager of Macclesfield Town following the sacking of Mark Yates.

Ah the old managerial merry-go-round.

Did Danny Whittaker win the who is a better manager poll on here... ?

Saw that result, but did not realise Chris Swailes was manager. Standout score that. Chester are 5th in National League North having dropped out off Conference last season so not struggling either. They'd only let in 3 in 11 games  in the League too!
He's been manager there since Oct 2016, having been Asst Mgr at Hamilton Accies prior to that.

They've won 6 drawn 1 of their 7 games, sitting 7th, but with their FA Cup exploits have played up to 5 games less than the teams above them.
That was their 12th win on the bounce and 13th of 14 games in all comps.

Average 2017/18 season though, finishing 10th. His first season saw 8-4-12 return.

IS there a lesson there, I wondered if it takes a good couple of seasons to get things ticking the way you would like?

Since Big Joe  24 years ago only 6 managers have 2 seasons: Sharp, Ritchie, Dowie, Shez, Dickov and Johnson. I don't think Sharp and Dickov, to varying degrees, could be considered successful, but the other 4 to relatively were.

Sharp had two years, jesus

Kirk Miller playing for Linfield live on Sky Sports 1 tonight.

Latics should take a look at Linfield's left winger Joel Cooper. Nippy, tricky, works hard and has an eye for goal.

Handled some rough treatment well.

A skilful, creative forward from Ireland - what could possibly go wrong?

Doyle getting pelters from Bradford fans on Twitter.

He is.  But it appears they are using him as they used to use Hanson !?!?  That’s not Doyle. Not big enough, not strong enough. Hoofball, with him trying to win it and hold it won’t work.

Real home boy that lad, bit of a miss out for us. But, long as he’s happy then that’s it l suppose.

Definitely a home boy, that's for sure...

His goal was the winner and he got man of the match - securing the cup and the league and cup double.

Josh Law gets 4 out of 10 after York lose 4-1 to Bradford PA. One of several to get a low mark.  I have to admit I was surprised when he dropped down to York, I always thought he was half decent.

"Josh Law 4 – very difficult to recall City’s right back laying a single tackle on an opponent"
