Ricardo
Or maybe he just doesn’t have a conscience? An accident wouldn’t result in him being told to train with the youth team.

An accident wouldn’t result in him being told to train with the youth team. Neither would doing it on purpose. It's down to money, AL gave him an over-inflated contract that he realised he could no longer honour. (Personally I think that might have been the case if we had stayed up as I think AL hadn't fully realised the state of the club at the time). If Byrne had broken Fane's leg on purpose he'd have been sacked, and there would likely have been a police investigation. He also wouldn't have been paid off, which judging by the article I am fairly confident he was. If it was an accident and Byrne didn't react how most people would after accidentally breaking someone else's leg- then I can see Byrne being made to train with the youths. I wonder if Byrne was involved in the incident that caused Fane to be suspended at the end of the year. Or Fane was being sold and this leg break scuppered that. Despite all those being "In the know" there aren't many who know the full story and I don't think any of those that do post on here.

I mean, it's not unfair for him to address us as 'They' seeing as he's not not one of us any longer..... but it does also possibly indicate he doesn't feel he is responsible. I wish the lad all the best.

Bobledgersheart
Heard that one or two senior players weren't too happy with the challenge and let Byrne know it, but still doesn't prove he meant it.
