And Harrogate it is. Excellent

Something a bit different for next season, well done to them.

Completely stupid that the EFL will make them dig their 4G up though.  If it's good enough for the FA Cup, Champions League and international football, it should do for L2.

Certainly better than some of the sandpits and mudfests that pass for "grass".

On another note, if Callum Roberts has a clause releasing him from Notts County after failing to get promoted he would be well worth a look.  Definitely an entertainer to bring the crowds back.

He'll be on more their than we can afford.

Salary cap: EFL proposes League One and League Two cap on wages

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52738597

A salary cap of £1.25m suggested for League 2... That’s a total wage bill of just over £100k per month. A squad of twenty-five (*) would mean each player receives £4K a month or less than a grand a week 😮

The way around this naturally would be incentive/bonus schemes dependent upon success criteria- maybe not such a bad thing?

* Another proposal suggesting squads of twenty which would give each £5K per month.

Its happening:

Limits have been set at £2.5m and £1.5m for the respective divisions.

League One & Two clubs vote to introduce salary cap https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53696424

To put this in context, Rochdale had a wage bill of £3m last season and their’s would have been one of the lower ones.

According to Kieran Maguire it was £4m, and lowest declared.

Sunderland's was £26.7m

Mark Moisley might be worried.

Thanks Singe.  I was just working on what their Chairman said the other day quoting £250k per month.

Going to be a hell of a drop for everyone then.

Yeah, I thought you'd nicely underplayed it!

How is this wage cap going to work then, if clubs already have players on big contracts and are already over the cap, without signing anyone?

It was mentioned that existing contracts would only count as £1300 week which is way under what the likes of Doyle and Sarcavic have signed at Bolton!

Disgusting. Wrong on more than one level. The way the points per game is calculated is a double punishment.

Agree that the points per game calculation is silly. Macc got 36 points from 37 games, so could reasonably have expected to get another 9 if the season had finished. Any points deduction should then have been applied AFTER that before calculating points per game. Otherwise the points deduction is in effect higher than it should've been.

As it happens, the extra four points they were deducted today means they would (just) have been relegated anyway, I think. Pretty convenient for the EFL, that...

Doesn't feel right that a team winning three games all season gets to stay up, to me.
