Still a lot of work to do.

We’ll see where we’re really up to with the next two pre-season games.

Obviously. A good work out today though. I’ve no idea how good Curzon are but it’s another game in the payers legs and they’re looking sharper, which is  all pre season is about

@Monty Burns

’The main man’ Nuttall came on, missed a 2 yard header, put a ball on the moon and prevented us from scoring more goals. Mike fondop is our 20+ goals a season man with Kurt, Reidy & green chipping in often.

You'll be in trouble, you are not supposed to say negative things about our main striker.

Half the post match comments say something negative about Nuttall. No negative comment about anything or anyone else.

That’s great in a way as it shows we’re on the right track! But either we have no issues anywhere else in the team or there’s a bit of a fixation on him.

Hope was OK - he just need more time on the pitch.

For me Nuttall didn't appear to be interested and was quite happy to amble around the park.

(personal opinion Monty - like you I have been wrong in the past and I admit my mistakes!).

Brian.

you’re right. The fixation on Nuttall is because today he was our weakest link. Everyone performed at a minimum of 7/10 and there was consistent quality throughout the squad. Nuttall was subbed on at half time and performed at about a 4 (arguably generous). Slowed us down and missed clear cut chances.

Sutton, Couto did okay of the subs, rest did little.

Fondop has to start for me and you can't play him and Nuttall together as we are too easy to play against with them two up there, only when Willoughby come on did we give Curzon something to think about, you can see Unsworth on the bench willing Nuttall to do something but he's a donk and doesn't have it him in. He's going to have to swallow his pride with him and for the good of the team admit he got it wrong. He's right down the pecking order for me and doesn't look like he's got a goal in him.

Hobson did okay but he looks lost out on the touchline, he wasn't tested defensively today at all but he does look comfortable on the ball, still think he is our best centre half and hope we ain't going to ruin the lad playing him out there.

No fixation from me, if I thought there was any way he could improve the team I would say so. Nuttall and Unsworth are the 2 people that will hold us back, that's just my opinion.

2 games 2 wins and 8 goals it's been a good week. We are nicely building upto the season. Nice combination play between Reid and Fondop for the 2nd goal too

Things are looking good. Even if a section of our fanbase is suffering from Cherophobia.

My take on things so far having watched the first four friendlies….

Up top, any 2 of Fondop, Reid and Willoughby to start.
Whoever misses out is on the bench, with 3 other outfield players covering the other positions.
Nuttall to eventually provide cover for injuries and / or loss of form but for now, he doesn’t make the match day squad.

We are more than adequately covered elsewhere, just a nagging doubt over whether we need a specialist right back who will also be effective going forward.

We currently have a competitive squad of 20/21 - so quality over quantity is the right way way to go.
