They look a very good team, score lots of goals ( 25 more than us ), and are on course for promotion. The people running that club on what must be a shoestring budget deserve a medal, and all the success in the world. And have we played them 5 times in the last 2 seasons, and not managed a single win ? Yes and just to go slight off NL topic, Curzon Ashton are the same, punching well above their weight year in year out. It's all about being run right all the way through the club, expecting players to leave but have the structure to replace them.

Apparently all you have to do is pick the right manager and the rest takes care of itself...
deyres42
Serial promotion winner and we are effectively two places higher than where we finished last season, big L.

If the team cuts out the poor attitude and basic mistakes and just plays football then the fans will back them - that's all we ask.

Exactly. After the Chesterfield match all we chatted about was the performance and didn't really mention the scoreline.

We nearly beat them away under Unsworth, in fact we were the better team. Shelton and Sheron in a midfield three with Gardner, Sutton at rightback, playing a 4-5-1 with Norwood up top on his own. Yes, tbf, it was one of the better performances under Unsworth and we should have won with the help of their keeper throwing 2 in his own net. You're right though it's must win as was last Saturday for me. If last Saturday was a must win, but we didn't win, then Friday can't be a must win, by your logic it's all over
nzlatic
Aldershot pumped 4-0 at Maidenhead. Halifax lost at Hartlepool who just got pumped 7-1 at Gateshead. What a league.

Surprised someone hasn't stepped in yet to make them fulfil their fixtures elsewhere as is the case at lower levels. Stick some astro down at the Piece Hall and let's have at it. BP1960
25 years ago Curzon Ashton were in the North West Counties League, now they are in the National League North play offs with a great chance of facing Latics next season. And on top of that Ashton United could be in the NLN next season one league away from us. Who have thought it?
